Friends of the Historic Kingsburg Depot

Friends of the Depot come in all ages and sizes, and membership is open to all interested persons. Your membership helps preserve this historic depot in good condition and makes it an exciting place to visit for K-12 students and the general public.

Friends is proud of the two young members in this photo being interviewed on a television program about their fundraising efforts for rehabilitation of the Depot. While attending grade school, they raised $20,000 for the Depot rehabilitation project through a variety of innovative and exciting activities.

Picture
From our beginning in 2005 Friends has enjoyed tremendous volunteer participation in rehabilitation work at the Depot site. In the past 14 years volunteers have worked more than 19,400 hours doing all sorts of skilled and unskilled labor. Much of the work has been hot and dirty, but was done with enthusiasm. Many humorous events occurred during these hours, and a spirit of camaraderie prevailed through it all. Even if calculated at minimum wage, this labor has a value of more than $268,000. Participation at a "hands dirty" level brings a sense of satisfaction that only those who volunteer ever know. Now that the dream the fully rehabilitated Depot is a reality, new members have been joining those who have worked many years at the site, and a special bond is forming in the group.
